A happy little monkey

Dear Evan,

You are one happy little monkey! You've discovered your hands & think they are the coolest things ever :) You've also discovered how to clasp your hands together. Lately, you've figured out how to hold onto your feet & partially roll over. But your favorite discovery is looking at yourself in the mirror. Its to amazing to watch you discover the world around you. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful, happy & curious baby!

Mommas & babies everywhere

Dear Evan,

You & I have been keeping a close eye out our front window. There is a momma hummingbird who built a nest a few weeks back. Then we noticed that there was a egg in there! And another!

Every morning & every evening we check out the hummingbird to see how she's doing. A few days ago, we noticed that she had some company. One of her babies had hatched. I managed to catch a quick picture of the baby poking its head out of the nest. It was chirping up a storm, waiting for its momma to come back with some food.

Hopefully we will see the other baby bird soon! Until then, we'll keep checking in on the momma & baby #1. Its all quite exciting!

Love,
Mom

Rock & Roll

Dear Evan,

Unfortunately, the title of this blog post doesn't have to do with music. It's all about the earthquake last night! You slept right through your first earthquake. And it was a pretty good sized one at 5.0. Of course, your dad & I were nervous. Even though our house is pretty small, the hallway to your room never felt so long!

You were a champ, slept right through it & so far, the aftershocks have been minimal so its all going to be OK.

Madly in Love

Dear Evan,

I am so madly in love with you & your dad. You are very lucky to have the dad that you do. He is spontaneous, thoughtful & loves to be on the GO! Much to my surprise, he took off work on Friday, arranged for Grammy Robin to babysit & organized a picnic for us. We drove down to Crystal Cove & walked along the beach to the point where he proposed to me. What a way to kick off Mother's Day weekend!

On Mother's Day, he & Pops organized a Duffy Boat ride for all of us, including Grandma Nelly & Nana. It was very relaxing & quite a treat to be with the entire family on Mother's Day. Here's a picture of you, your dad & Pops ...

And I am so madly in love with you. Even though you still wake up a bazillion times during the night, those are also some of my favorite times. The house is quiet & its just you & me in the rocking chair. But nothing, and I mean nothing, beats getting you out of your crib in the morning & seeing your first smile of the day. It makes everything better.

I love you both so very much,
Mom
