Yum yum, eat 'um ups!

Dear Evan,

With the rate you are growing, we thought you'd dive right into eating 'solids' without any problems! Well, we quickly found out that you're not such a big fan of rice cereal. In fact, you even dry heaved just to prove a point. Duly noted.

Before ...

Um, not sure what this is all about

Maybe Daddy does it better

Now we're trying oatmeal, which you seem to like better, but you still make some priceless faces at us while you're eating ...

We'll keep giving it the old college try & I'm sure in no time you'll be enjoying sweet potatoes, carrots & applesauce!

Happy Father's Day!

Dear Evan,

Yesterday was Father's Day & we celebrated the greatest dad ever ... YOUR DAD! While you were taking your morning nap, I made dad a feast of a breakfast - complete with pancakes, sausage, eggs & fruit salad. By the time we were half-way through reading the Sunday paper, you decided to join us. Most of the day was spent playing, but while you were napping, dad got to catch up on Formula 1 racing & baseball. I even had a chance to sneak away & surprise dad with a late lunch from his all time favorite Mexican place - Las Golondrinas!

After your last nap of the day, we got the Ginge on the leash & we all went for a walk around Woodbury. We even had a chance to do a little photo shoot ....

Here's you & your dad testing out the swings

Your 1st trip down the slide

The Ginge was a good girl, patiently waiting for us to finish up at the playground

Here's dad marking our spot on the map

And here's where he'd rather be ... NYC!

The kids in the neighborhood took turns holding you. You completely drooled all over the little girl's right shoulder!

Already making friends with the neighborhood kiddos.

Apparently you couldn't wait for your bottle, so you started to eat your foot.

All in all, it was a very relaxing Father's Day ... just what your dad ordered!

Mom

Busy body

Dear Evan,

You are becoming quite the busy body lately! Much to my surprise I found you laying sideways when I checked the monitor this morning. Somehow you wiggled partly out of your swaddle & managed to push yourself all around the crib ...

You love discovering new things lately. You really concentrate on every little detail of a new object. Grammy Robin suggested that we put the mirror in front of you when we do tummy time. Boy has it made tummy time much more manageable! You are staying on your tummy for longer stretches of time & really building your strength up. The pictures below are great but your face looks a little distorted since its a 'play mirror'.

Wonder what you'll discover next ...

We're empty nesters!

Dear Evan,

Its official, we are empty nesters. The baby hummingbird that we have been watching grow has flown away. Thank goodness you won't grow up as fast as the hummingbird! We saw the momma lay eggs, the lil guy hatch & shed his baby feathers. Now he's off on his own. The 'mom' in me is all mushy & sad about not being able to see the little bird outside our window anymore.

Mom

Fast forward to 2021

Dear Evan,

Wow ... you are really getting tall! You had your 4 month well-check visit with Dr. Tse last week & you are a champ. Once again, you handled the immunization shots great. You let out a loud cry with the last injection, but 2 seconds later, you flashed the nurse one of your toothless grins.

I can't believe it, but you've grown 5" in 4 months! That has to be a record somewhere, right? Now you are 27", which puts you at the 100th percentile for height. If you keep growing at this rate, you'll be my height when you're 12 years old!! You also gained a few pounds. You are 16lbs, which puts you in the 75th percentile for weight.

As you can tell from the pictures we've been posting lately, your baby hair has been falling out. But there's been this funky patch on top that's got a mind of its own. Some days you look like you have an old man's combover, other days you look like Johnny Cash. So today, your dad & I gave you your 1st haircut! Dad trimmed the 1st part & I finished up the rest. We saved what's in the picture below for your baby book. Man, the old saying is true ... enjoy every moment because they grow up so fast.

Mom & Dad

Your dad is a rockstar!

Dear Evan,

You have been sleeping like a champ lately! We were invited to a BBQ last night, but since we don't want to derail your sleeping patterns, your dad offered to stay home & watch you while I went to the BBQ to catch up with some old friends.

Your dad is a rockstar. He took you & Ginger on a walk through the park. Its no easy feat trying to push you in a stroller, while Ginger zigzags in front of the stroller trying to sniff everything in sight ... but you guys did great!

Then you guys play a bit at home & it was bath time. Usually bath time is a 2 person job, but your dad got you all cleaned up by himself! He snuggled you up into your favorite PJs, combed your hair, read you a story, fed you a bottle & you were passed out by 7pm! By 7:15pm, dad's pizza was delivered & all was right in the world.

You're one lucky kiddo. You've got the best dad in the world!
Love,
Mom

PS - Here's a pic from earlier in the day. You two love to goof off!
