Out & About

Dear Evan,

We've sure been keeping you busy! Here's a little recap of what's been happening over the past few weeks ...

Your dad's company threw a going away BBQ for some of the engineers who were on assignment from Japan. They had finished their 3-year assignment & were headed back to Japan. They had heard so much about you & couldn't wait to meet you. You slept threw the whole thing, but that didn't keep them from snapping a few pictures of you! One of mom's favorite memories from the BBQ is watching some of the Japanese engineers use chopsticks (instead of tongs) to turn the meat on the BBQ. Hahaha!

Then, Grandma Robin's brother & sister-in-law came for a quick visit from Atlanta. Jack & Debbie flew all the way across the country just to meet you! It was a quick visit but really nice to get to relax & catch up with them. They already have 4 grandchildren, so they knew just the right way to hold you. Hopefully, we can do a family reunion for Grandma Robin's side of the family soon. We're spread out between Atlanta, Chicago, Orange County & Seattle. The last time we were all together was at your Great Grandpa's memorial, so it would be wonderful to get together to celebrate all of the new kiddos. Your Great Grandpa would've had 6 Great Grandkids by now. How crazy! He would've been proud of each & every one of you.

One of mom's friends threw a quilting party & you were the guest of honor! Gale Kahn is extremely creative & she started working on a quilt for you. Everyone came to her house & she served some yummy desserts while everyone finished assembling the quilt. Its so cozy & it matches the sheep in your room! Gale's daughter & granddaughter helped throw the party too. They were so welcoming & it was such a great night to spend with your Grandma & all of her friends.

And then, your mom & dad had our 1st date since you've been born!! Dad surprised me with tickets to a comedy show in LA. Grandma Robin, Pops, mom & dad all piled into the car & headed up to LA. Mom & dad got dropped off at the Gibson Amphitheater at Universal Citywalk & you headed up to Shari & Phil Kaufman's house with Grandma & Pops. We thought about you the entire time we were at the show! A lot of the comedians were new parents too, so some of the jokes were about being new parents & boy could we relate!! It was a great night & we are all so lucky that Grandma Robin & Pops were willing to drive up to LA & back, just so mom & dad could go on a date! They are one in a million!

Your dad's birthday is on April 6th & Grandma Nellie, Great Grandma Adela, Uncle Mike, Grandma Robin & Pops all came over to celebrate. It was just perfect - a relaxing day with all of your dad's favorite people, plus his favorite food. We had Las Golondrinas for lunch & a 31 Flavors mint chocolate chip ice cream cake. Your dad can't wait until you're big enough to go to Las Golondrinas. It is the best Mexican food in town!

Your dad's birthday present was tickets & spending money for the Angels Opening Day. Its become a tradition since Opening Day usually falls on his birthday. Mom got tickets in the 2nd row by the right outfield. We were hoping to see Vladimir Guerrero but he wasn't playing. We had a great time & it was so cool to be that close to the field! If your dad hits the lottery, he's going to quit his job & become a part of the field maintenance team. Boy, they sure keep those fields immaculate! It’s quite impressive.

The Angels then went onto Seattle to play the Seattle Mariners for their Opening Day. We have to support the Mariners too because your mom's cousin is their Director of Marketing! Here you are in your Seattle Mariners onesie.

Love,
Mom & Dad

Dear Evan,

Thanks for rockin' the Mariners onesie I got you in the heart of Angelville. I'm totally cool if the Mariners are your second favorite team... in the A.L. West.

Just remember, that whenever you come up to Seattle, you'll have great seats to any game. Not to mention the fact that you can hang out with our birthmonth buddy, Max!

Take care, munchkin.
